UBD Green Xchange Project Launched

The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports fully supports the efforts of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, through the Student Community Outreach Team, SCOT, to act together to guide local youths to be more sensitive to community issues. Involvement of volunteers such as UBD undergraduates in the Green Xchange Project to help the underprivileged is highly appreciated. It is hoped that the project can produce youth with empathy and humanity towards the community. This was highlighted by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports at the Official Launch of the 2nd Brunei-Singapore SCOT Green Xchange Project.

The Green Xchange Project was inspired by Avelife Foundation originally from Singapore. The project was also officially launched in Brunei, in which SCOT works on the project in collaboration with Avelife Foundation Singapore. Green Xchange Project is an effort to assist low-income families, combining it with the green concept, whereby recyclable materials collected by kampung residents are exchanged for basic commodities such as rice. Kampung residents can, for example, exchange a dollar worth of recyclables with one and a half kilograms of rice.
